Back from ISA
This is me with Charli Carpenter and Alex Montgomary-Amo who came dressed up as Starbuck and Helo, respectively, to the "Galactica Actual" panel at ISA 2010, New Orleans. The panel discussed issues presented in the serial science fiction drama Battlestar Galactica that have to do with International Relations. Papers presented included issues of genocide and memorialization, technological determinism, religion and world society and critical methodology. My own piece asks how BSG analyzes the question of "who counts as human?" and discusses issues such as gender, heteronormativity, torture, rape and genocide in the context of humanity's conflict with the cylons.
